Welcome to the Peripheral Vascular Disease Community!
AHA Peripheral Vascular Disease Community Editor
Dr. Alan T. Hirsch, MD, FAHA
Council on Peripheral Vascular Disease
The New Council on PVD This new site also acknowledges the fundamental importance of this year?s transition from being merely a "IWG" or "Interdisciplinary Working Group" to being a full Interdisciplinary Council within the American Heart Association (AHA). Our AHA Councils have long served as professional guides that provide expertise to AHA, the nation, and the public as we seek to accomplish our mission to diminish the impact of cardiovascular disease on individual and community health. AHA has also always been fundamentally interdisciplinary. In this frame, our Peripheral Vascular Disease IWG has not been unique. However, the professional vascular health community has been both strengthened and challenged by the more fundamental distinctions between different types of vascular specialists that are engaged during training and often sustained throughout a career. Though our missions are identical, our training and tools are not. This IWG will serve as a unique resource to all vascular health professionals who seek comprehensive access to all of the best science, clinical tools, and colleagues. Join us! Stay active!
